What is the Youth Advisory Board?
The Invictus Wellbeing Youth Advisory Board is a small team of young people who are crucial to how our organisation runs. The YAB come together at least once a quarter to advise the board of trustees and make decisions and recommendations to our strategy.
Why join?
Being part of the YAB is being part of an essential part of our organisation. Joining the board means you will actively contribute to our strategic direction as an organisation, including influencing and campaigning for better support and services for mental health locally, regionally and nationally.

This looks great on your CV, personal statement and future applications. In addition to this, we provide excellent personal references to all YAB members as well as exclusive perks, insights and maybe a slice of pizza or two! You will also gain experience, knowledge and skills in youth voice and influence, campaigning, social action, strategic leadership and much more.
How does it work?
The board adjourns at least 4 times a year and directly feeds in to and from the senior leadership team, the board of trustees and a number of sub-committees. The YAB nominate one member to join the board of trustees each year and there is a permanent place in our trustees meetings for a member of the YAB. This means our senior leaders will discuss, debate and make decisions using the input of the YAB. The trustees will also send papers to the YAB for discussion, debate and advice.

In addition to this, the YAB will contribute to our strategic vision, helping us be youth led, community led and representative of the young people we serve.
How do I join the board?
If you are aged between 14-19, from West Yorkshire and want to contribute to real change for young people's mental health locally, we want to hear from you! You will be required to fill in a short application form and attend an informal interview with our existing YAB and YAB coordinator.
